Looks great.Love what they did with it. How much you got in it with labor? Keep up the good work. I'm gonna get the same doors for mine. did they come blk. (said over 2 years ago by dave).
Thanks Dave I appreciate it. I have aprox: 10,000 in labor. There are some things that had to be done over and I could have saved some money if those things did not occur. I bought the doors from Light Line of Louisiana and they were white. I had the (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
Allright,I'm looking into s.s.s. They carry them. They are also in white. I don't know what I'm gonna paint them though.Looks that way though. Keep up the good work. (said over 2 years ago by dave).
Beautiful Scout, nice work. (said over 2 years ago by Rich Nelson).
Thank you Rich - I just took the pictures yesterday. (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
The weather was great and I was able to find a spot to "flex" the suspension a little bit. (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
Eric, did you just paint your Scout? If so would you have your paint code. I think I might go with the Dark Green instead of Burnt Orange. Let me know. Thanks, Jason (said over 2 years ago by Jason Muehr).
Hi Jason - I am sorry, I do not have the paint code - however it is U.S.M.C. OD Green. Any Napa store can mix it up for you (that is where I got mine done). (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
Also - it has a shiny finish because I put on a clear coat, the mesquite trees down in Texas kept scratching thru the paint. Let me know if you have any more questions I would be happy to help. (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
very nice scout, love the color (said over 2 years ago by Neal Gray).
Thank you Neal. (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
You asked me a while back if I have had problems with my Jasper engine; I said no. Now I do, rear main leaks and blows smoke when started. Thank God for the warranty. Like the Forest Green. (said over 2 years ago by Christopher Herman).
I am sorry to hear that Chris - I had to replace the engine bearings on my Jasper engine with less than 3000 miles on it. (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
They did not stand behind the warrenty because I was over the 3 year limit but obviously way under 70,000 miles. I hope the next engine you get from them is ok. (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
Thanks for the compliment about the color - I may change it after a few more years to a "scout color" like glacier blue or omaha orange - what do you think? (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
They are footing the bill for my mechanics to rebuild it. (said over 2 years ago by Christopher Herman).
Choice of color is up to you. But, there are many orange ones out there. I would go with blue. (said over 2 years ago by Christopher Herman).
just not glacier. not a big fan of baby blue (said over 2 years ago by Christopher Herman).
I am glad to hear that they are going to cover your expense regarding your engine. Can you let me know what you find with your engine - I am curious what may be wrong. I am torn about the color, I may just keep it the same color - in the end I like it t (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
I got cut off - in the end I like it too. (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
Jasper wants mechanics to run some tests to see why it's smoking b4 they find the leaking issue. Jasper really doesn't want to foot the bill for another rebuild. (said over 2 years ago by Christopher Herman).
Sounds familiar. The great thing is that you are clearly within your warranty and they will have to honor it. Are they going to pay for the labor to have it "pulled" too? (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
Yes, they are paying for everything. No reason why I should. There is oil being sucked thru the PCV valve. What would cause that? Then going to combustion chamber. What would cause that? (said over 2 years ago by Christopher Herman).
Holy smokes - literally. I am really sorry you are going through this, it gets a little frustrating. I am not sure what would cause your oil getting sucked into areas it should not be going. (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
However - I would call ihonly north.com - those guys are studs and are very knowledgable and helpful. (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
Looks great, Scout should have offered a version like yours off the show room floor. (said over 2 years ago by Rob Gojkovich).
Thanks Rob - I appreciate it. I am still waiting to put in the 4.56 gears and lockers - hopefully that will happen this spring. I am delayed a bit because of another project that I have going on - 1976 dodge power wagon crew cab with a cummins 12 valve. (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
hey Eric you have a great rig. im new to scouts, ido you have a SUA or a SOA thankyou vic (said over 2 years ago by VIC).
Thanks Vic. I have a spring under - I was a little concerned about getting some "axle wrap" with a soa, so I just went with your standard 4 inch sua along with a small body lift and shackle lift. (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
Love the look of your Scout. Not a real big fan of D&C, but your cage, bumpers and sliders go very nice with your doors. Love the green and black too. Very clean Scout, 5 star rating from me! (said over 2 years ago by Matt).
Thanks Matt. It is funny, you are the second person in 2 weeks that I have talked to that does not like D&C. (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
Well, the engine is on its way back to Jasper. No one knows why oil is going thru the PCV to the combustion chamber. (said over 2 years ago by Christopher Herman).
This has been going on for over 3 months - I am glad that they are going to at least fix the problem. After your experience and mine I really do not trust that they have a good product and if I ever need another engine I will not buy one from them. (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
Hopefully after all this BS, it won't need to be rebuilt again. I will never go back to them for anything. (said over 2 years ago by Christopher Herman).
I love your scout.....I like D&C also.. (said over 2 years ago by Dane Emde).
Thanks Dane. (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
Very nice! Looks very clean, Good Work. 5 Star. I put a Chevy 350 in mine also. So far so good. Seats look awesome, what kind. What mods to get them in. Debating what to do about my seats. Got bench seats but want buckets that recline. (said over 2 years ago by Ugly).
Thank you. They are Best Top seats (trailmax). As far as I can remember there were no modifications done to get them to fit. (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
You can not argue with the savings in weight, the performance parts and the hp/torque you can get with a small block chevy - 350 hp and 400 foot pounds of torque is what I ended up getting. I still feel a little guilty about the swap but the original 345 (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
needed some help and it went to a good home - Scout Madness in Lubbock Tx. (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).
Very well said about the swap. Felt guilty also but well worth it. Need to find a good home for my 345, if only I wer'nt in Hawaii, I'd take it there. Thanks for the reply. (said over 2 years ago by Ugly).
Well, the engine is back from Jasper. Again. Excessive ring clearance was the problem. The oil leak was the mechanics fault. He didn't seal the holes on the crankshaft where it meets the flywheel. (said over 2 years ago by Christopher Herman).
Nice scout. I just had one given to me that needs a motor. What mods were needed to put the 350 in yours? (said about 1 year ago by Sam Martin).
Hi Sam - Their were not a huge amount of mods - mainly new motor mounts, then I got an adapter plate from advanced adapters to hook the chevy 350 up to the 727. However this did not work and I immediatly had transmission problems at which time I contacte (said about 1 year ago by Eric Reid).
contacted advanced adapters and they blamed the shop that installed it - the shop then blamed adavanced adapters - end result was I was out alot of money. (said about 1 year ago by Eric Reid).
Which is why I grabed a TH400 and put that behind the engine - chevy to chevy. I did have to get a different output shaft form the tranny to the model 20 transfer case which worked out great and yes I had to buy that from advanced adapters. (said about 1 year ago by Eric Reid).
What cost me was all the labor (about 5,000 to do this)- the process is pretty straight forward and has worked out great for me - but I had to pay someone to intall it for me. (said about 1 year ago by Eric Reid).
The engine is about 300 lbs lighter than a 345 - I have about 350 horse and 400 ft. lbs. of torque and I can go to any auto parts store to pick up parts for the engine - I tried to have the original 345 rebuilt which was 5,000 just for the rebuild so I pi (said about 1 year ago by Eric Reid).
I picked up a high performance 350 that came with a warrenty for 3,500 - bought a throttle body fuel injection kit from Howell for 1,200 - the grand total was still less then the cost of having my 345 rebuilt. (said about 1 year ago by Eric Reid).
Sorry I got a little long winded. (said about 1 year ago by Eric Reid).
I was looking at 345 rebuilds, but they're so expensive and hard to find parts for, thanks for all the info. (said about 1 year ago by Sam Martin).
No problem Sam. If you want I still have the invoice/bill from the shop that installed the 350 - I could fax it to you or e-mail it to you, that way you can see exactly what was spent on each item. On a personal note: Congratulations on getting a scout, (said about 1 year ago by Eric Reid).
looks cool (said 10 months ago by john).

Eric, nice ride. I agree we need to get out and do some wheeling together, maybe the moonrocks or hell anythings good with me. Call me @ 224-1771 Lance (said over 2 years ago by Lance Lopez).
