Grip it and Rip it, what sheet metal?
12/3/10 Just added some more youtube footage. Search for 1badscout. Rescued it from going to the scrap metal bin. When I got my scout it was in sad shape. Body wasn't even bolted to the frame, not a single piece of glass in it. You could see through the floor boards. No possibility of restoration so I did the next best thing to make it usuable again. Lucky is a 1961 Scout half cab, fuel injected 350 chevy, centerforce 2 clutch, custom wiring harness done by me, chevy fuse block, Dana 60 front (locked), 14 bolt rear (spooled), 1330 u-joints in front, 1350 in rear, Custom 4 link rear (done by me), chevy blazer rear springs used for the front, RS9000 shocks, aluminum afco radiator, SM465/NP205 (twin sticks built by me) pro comp rock crusher wheels, 39.5" iroks, 120 feet of exo cage, 12000 lb milemarker winch, Scout 2 steering box with cooler, chevy steering column, full race harnesses & seats. Kenworth T2000 headlights that go right into scout headlight buckets which give replaceable/upgradeable bulbs and a ton more light. (also they don't cost a arm and a leg!) I built it & didn't drop it off at someone elses shop to have work done to it. The only thing I have paid someone else to do is build my drivelines and mount my tires. I built a very capable four wheel drive that can still be driven to the trail (with mud flaps). It is licensed & insured and is very happy doing 65 mph down the freeway. I put it together in 8 monthes and like every project they are never really done. I love my bumper sticker that says Barbie called she wants her jeep back!!!!!!
Hot 350 chevy fuel injected. sorry but the orignal 152 wouldn't cut it.
GOT SOME GREAT FOOTAGE ON YOU TUBE. SEARCH FOR 1BADSCOUT.
383 Stroker and rear 12,000 pound winch.
When is the run? Maybe I can get away from work and come join you. Might have some buddies that would want to go too. Just got done doing a snow run today and managed to blow up the front 60 ring & pinion! Thank god I got spare parts! (said over 3 years ago by Jacob Walker).
Jan 24th for sure...the city name spelled Molalla Orgen south of portland..sorry about the poor spelling...all are welcome.....check this web address out for more info http://www.ihonlynorth.com/forums/i-h-s-t-o/1109-tractractor-off-roads-huge-bitch-run (said over 3 years ago by old smokey).
nice cage (said over 3 years ago by mitchel munro).
Thank you. Got to redo some of the rear tube work. I exo caged everything and then put a 4 link in. Had to cut off alot of the rear tube work because the tires would hit. Want to fix it soon but I have been building another Scout 800 for my wife. It will (said over 3 years ago by Jacob Walker).
be a "pretty" scout. Hoping to get it ready for the IH only mcgrew trail run in August. (said over 3 years ago by Jacob Walker).
Thats a sick rig, I love seeing Scout with 1 ton running gear and some big meats. Thats a real wheeler. Nice work (said over 2 years ago by Rich Nelson).
Thank you.. hope to have my wifes rig on here soon. Got alot of work to do it. Once I get the 2 bodies welded back together I will put some pictures on here. (said over 2 years ago by Jacob Walker).
Has anyone else came across a 1969 800B series? It was built in march of 69. I have one that all the numbers & title say it is a 800B, even has the side marker lights. I thought they were only made in 1970 & later? (said over 2 years ago by Jacob Walker).
Your everywhere on the internet. see you all over you tube. Good job, but would have likrd to seen the ihc motor used. any one of the v8's. very nice though.you actually use it.No fancy stuff,Just kickin ass and taking names. (said over 2 years ago by dave).
By the way I love the custom exo cage, that looks mean as hell, and its more than practical when you have a purpose built wheeler. (said over 2 years ago by Rich Nelson).
Thanks guys... I would have loved to use a IH Motor. Just I couldn't afford to build one that can put out the power & torque I can get out of a TBI 350. Plus when I blow this engine up I can toss it over my shoulder & build another for cheap. (said over 2 years ago by Jacob Walker).
what up..yeah i wana go in aug...just been busy fixen my scout up getting geard up for the rubicon...also want to go to the scout fall ralley..its in oct (said over 2 years ago by old smokey).
Have you heard of the binder bee in Eugene Oregon? I think it is in July? (said over 2 years ago by Jacob Walker).
Jacob, I've seen your youtube posts -- that is one excellent Scout! Keep tearin' it up! (said over 2 years ago by Mike Allegretti).
Thanks... should be some more videos coming shortly. (said over 2 years ago by Jacob Walker).
Putting a v8 int. motor in place of the 4 banger is a major job. Love the vids on youtube, keep rippen herr a new one (said over 2 years ago by Chris Gambill).
dame alaska..thats up there a ways..u taken the corn binder..lol (said over 2 years ago by A.J. Smith).
Nope, Lucky has to stay at home for now. But I am sure that I will wish I had it with me!! (said over 2 years ago by Jacob Walker).
i bet old lucky would love the alaska action...seen some nice trail pic frm there..ah well what can ya do (said over 2 years ago by A.J. Smith).
check out toy scout on grip in rip...toyota powerd scout i me and my brother and law built. (said over 2 years ago by A.J. Smith).
Looks like the alaska thing fell through. they promised the world verbally then handed me a BS contract that said different!! Looks like I will get to do all the IH stuff this summer! (said over 2 years ago by Jacob Walker).
lol yea the usal bull shiz...well hope ta make it ur way..im gearing up for the rubicon trip on June 26th then ill have to take a cash breather b4 i can take on the IH stuff (said over 2 years ago by A.J. Smith).
im on this site now jacob..... still looking 4 mine (said over 2 years ago by Andrew).
im on this site now jacob..... still looking 4 mine (said over 2 years ago by Andrew).
Glad to hear it. You need to ask A.J. smith (smokey) about the Diesel stuff. (said over 2 years ago by Jacob Walker).
Awesome rig! Hey have you done anything on the wife"s 800 yet? Looking forward to showing my wife the pics. (said over 2 years ago by Rob Gojkovich).
I have been working in alaska for the last 6 monthes so it has been a little tough to get stuff done to it. (said over 2 years ago by Jacob Walker).
But on the last trip home I got the rear Scout2 Dana 44 installed with Scout2 rear springs SOA and i cut down a chevy front end and installed all the scout2 knuckles. (said over 2 years ago by Jacob Walker).
and outers also SOA with front Scout2 springs. Installed a set of 37" tires and 15x12 Mickey thompson classic wheels. (said over 2 years ago by Jacob Walker).
next time I go home I will take some pictures and get it on here. I am still looking for a solid Scout 800 body tub close to Oregon. (said over 2 years ago by Jacob Walker).
Unbelieveable rig even though it has a 350. Love your youtube clips. Do you have a power brake system. I have a 67 800 that has a single reservior. Doesn't appear to have room for a booster let alone booster and dual res. any ideas? (said over 2 years ago by mark).
Saw the you tube video "awesome"!!! (said over 2 years ago by Rob Gojkovich).
Yes I do have power brakes. You have to cut the inner fender out to get the clearance needed. I am also running a dual reservior. My set up is Chevy but looking at a Scout 2 booster it would probably work better. (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
I have been meaning to put more you tube footage up... Will get more on there soon! (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
This thing is bad ass, vote it up! (said about 1 year ago by Rich Nelson).
Found a Donor Body for my other Scout 800B!! I will post some pics after I get it swapped. Already got the frame set up with Scout 2 rear axle, cutdown chevy front axle, & Scout2 springs SOA with add a leafs. Fits 36" tires on mickey thompson 15x12 wheels (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
Looking forward to another awesome rig, your an inspiration Jacob, but are you going with an International power house under the hood? (said about 1 year ago by Rob Gojkovich).
I wished I could build a IH motor that would get the fuel economy/power that is had with a Fuel injected 350. Without breaking the bank. Everything but the engine & trans will be IH. What can I say? I love IH but in my opinion there power plants are expen (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
expensive & gas hogs. My other Scout that I am building is going to be very nice. No hard core wheeling with it. I got all the parts from a SR-2 to finish building it too a 1969 800B.
(said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
I have had to combine 2 Scout 800's to make one good body, part out another 800B, part out 2 Scout 2's to get the parts i needed for the rear ends, & power steering box, & take parts from 3 different Chevy's
(said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
The body I am using is a right hand drive & 2 wheel drive!! I will convert it to left hand drive & put the body onto the frame I have set up. It will be a awesome looking rig! (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
Sounds great! I don't want to sound critical because I love Chevys, but if your going for gas mileage buy a Prius. I pulled a Blazer backwards once up a hill he was having trouble with, but I still want to see it. (said about 1 year ago by Rob Gojkovich).
cant wait to c ur new build...if u need and cant find parts...let me know..lol.. got me a a pile or 2..lol (said about 1 year ago by A.J. Smith).
Thanks AJ. Got any V8 emblems? Its one of the things I am coming up empty on.
(said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
I get what your saying Rob. But if I can only look at the Scout when I am done versus being able to AFFORD to build a engine that I can AFFORD to drive. Not a hard choice for me. (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
For example: One of my buddies has a 73 Scout 2 with a stock 392. When he goes wheeling with us he is on gas fumes by the end of the day. He wheels very easy on his rig.
(said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
Me = HAMMER DOWN 90% of the time. I use 8 1/2 gallons. Scout with 392 18 1/2 gallons. I went wheeling 25 plus times last year using about $750 in fuel. Scout 2 used about $1620.
(said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
I can use that $870. To buy another engine when I send a rod out of the side of the block! LOL and I won't shed a tear cause its a chevy... not a 392 or 345 cause in my neck of the woods both of those are hard to find and I would piss myself if I killed o (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
Jacob, those ever elusive V emblems. I've got a bunch of emblems except the V's to bad they don't reproduce them. I get what you're saying Jacob. (said about 1 year ago by Rob Gojkovich).
Any pics of the interior, wanted to see if you did any customizing on the dash. I also have a '61 Bohunk and would like to make that into a crawler, but it needs better gauges. (said about 1 year ago by Rob Gojkovich).
I didn't do any customizing to the dash gauges. I am dreaming some stuff up for my other Scout 800B. Still is going to be fairly simple with white faced Autometer gauges. If I was going to do another 80 series? The whole dash would be stainless with steel (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
or aluminum. either one would be attached to steel for reinforcement. I would design it to have a hole for a cd player, cigarette lighter, cup holders, a better glove box, grab handles, map light, extra power outlet, (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
I really like the dashes in the 800's and they look alot newer than the 80's. But the 80's are nice and flat so it would be alot easier to completly replace and be able to put your gauges, switches and anything else in just about any location you want. An (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
The nice thing about the 80 series is that if you made a entire new dash and didnt cut up your old one... if you ever wanted to go back to the stock one they are very easy to change out. DAMN! NOW I AM GOING TO HAVE TO BUILD ONE! LOL (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
I NEED YOUR HELP!! I bought a set of rear slider windows for the top of my Scout 800B that I am building. Does anyone have a picture of what the latches are supposed to look like? (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
Definitely the 800 has a nice gauge format and the dash looks good. I was just hoping you did something creative with the existing 80 dash, because overall I like the look of it. (said about 1 year ago by Rob Gojkovich).
i like the fold down windshield on the 80s and the simple dash...although the 800 has a sweet look too
(said about 1 year ago by A.J. Smith).
New rig is posted. Its name is Patch. 1969 800B sitting on Scout2 rear axles, Chevy front axle narrowed to a Scout 2 width. Scout 2 leaf springs all the way around. (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).

that is one bad a$$ scout, can only hope that mine will turn out that good, nice jobe on the body cage sure can tell you have alot of time into that (said about 1 year ago by cory ghiggeri).
I have a 69 scout 800 that is completely missing all the brake hardware on passenger rear and I have not been able to find it and the truth of the matter is i don't even know what it looks like b/c it appears to be different than drivers side. you wouldn' (said about 1 year ago by mark).
I looked in my factory manual for the Scout 800's and the hardware appears to be the same from side to side. Just make sure the long shoe goes forward. Didn't get all your question though. (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
Ya Cory, I put a ton of time into that.. and lots of patience. lol (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
thanks for the info. It appears that somebody along the way has changed something because it appears to have the same shoe plate(???) as the front. do you know anyone that may have an old 27 with passenger side hardware. Not having any luck finding parts
(said about 1 year ago by mark).
The only person I know that might have one is on Alaska's Craigslist. His name is George and lives in Wasilla. He has alot of Scout parts and with usps flat rate shipping you can afford to have it shipped. (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
it may be time to find a dana 44 from a newer Scout 800. (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
I have plans to find a donor travelall to swap out everthing but have not found the right one. may even put 14 bolt but would kind of like to keep it international but its hard to beat 14 bolt. the set up you have is very nice. if I didn't keep it all sco (said about 1 year ago by mark).
I guess I talk too much because it cut off last 1/2. Anyway I appreciate you always taking the time and if I am ever in oregon I would love to see lucky in action. thanks (said about 1 year ago by mark).
Another option..In the newest Scout I am building (named Patch)Its a 69 800B I used Scout 2 Dana 44's and they worked really well and you stay IH. The Scout 2 axles are only about 1 1/2" wider on each side. The travel alls are alot wider. (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
LOL. I am in Alaska Now. Hope Lucky will be able to make it up here next summer. (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
okay, im new to all this. and i don't want to come as stupid. but im ignorant about these things. im planning on putting some kind of custom suspension under my scout. and i was wondering how the chevy rear blazer springs worked for the front? did you jus (said about 1 year ago by Michael R).
did you just get the blazer springs in a bind put them in the stock scout 80 springs mounts? or move the mounts back? (said about 1 year ago by Michael R).
jacob, i don't know if you are still looking for the v items, but i have a 1969 800A scout that i am parting out, that has the "V" emblem. and would be more than happy to sell it to you. (said about 1 year ago by Michael R).
well, i should say plural, it has both emblems. the driver side and passenger side. hah. (said about 1 year ago by Michael R).
Yes I would be interested in buying them.
(said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
The only dumb ? is the one you don't ask. LOL You have to farbicate all new spring bushing mounts and spring mounts for the axles. Since the springs are longer you have to mount the new mounts at different locations
(said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
My front shackles are at a steep angle to be able to mount the longer springs in there and to keep the axle in the right spot. I would really recommend using Scout2 Front and Rear springs. You have to extend the rear frame rails a couple of inches but it (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
Michael R please contact me at peezowon@yahoo.com (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
Hey Lucky your almost 50! (said about 1 year ago by Rob Gojkovich).
Lmao. He almost dodn't make it. PUT UP A BUNCH OF NEW YOUTUBE FOOTAGE, ENJOY (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
hey im new on here but ive seen your rig everywhere on you tube and was impressed everytime i watched one of your videos. talk about one mean bad ass right here how did you do the front springs or are they in there stock location??? (said about 1 year ago by Andrew).
The front springs are 53" chevy rear springs with the overloads removed. Its a tight fit and all new bracketing. (said about 1 year ago by Jacob Walker).
hows alsaka treatin ya buddy...hopfuley gd tms...
(said 10 months ago by A.J. Smith).
Alaska is treating us GOOD. Lots of Fun teaching the AK wheelers that OR boys can wheel!! LOL. Been eating up lots of buggies. There are lots of jobs still in AK. I just got back from driving down to OR and back and it was sad to see how bad the economy i (said 7 months ago by Jacob Walker).
Hey Lucky, You've heard it before but it bears repeating "BAD ASS"! I to have admired your scout on youtube. One of these days I would love to build an 800 with the same muscle!!
You Have definately set the mark with this vehicle!!
Thanks,
"EAGLE SCOUT (said 5 months ago by Mikel Wright).
glade 2 hear yhall doing ok and whooping some ass on them AK trails..lol..im gettn ready for a rubicon trip and my truck an near ready..lol..as always..anyhow be looking for some new pics soon from our trip :) (said 5 months ago by A.J. Smith).
Definitely 1badscout! Question-I have a 69 800 and have aquired a scout 2 power steering set up. Any advice on the best way to make the conversion since the factory pump is oriented differently? Thanks man and keep it up. (said 5 months ago by mark).
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner bud. I have been busy as heel the last couple of monthes. Is your rig a V-8 or a 4 cylinder? Makes a big difference. Once again I am sorry that I didn't read any of my messages (said 26 days ago by Jacob Walker).
