Greatlooking Scout (said over 3 years ago by Jeff & Melissa Lewis).

beautiful scout man...good work (said over 3 years ago by Drew).

Thanks, we sure are proud of how well it came out. (said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

Nice looking Scout. Nothing fancy, just the way a Scout is supposed to be. (said over 3 years ago by Matt).

i like the way it stands. looks tuff (said over 3 years ago by Darren Rule).

IHC SCOUT ~~~ ANYTHING ELSE IS JUST A CAR!!! (said over 3 years ago by Paul Irby).

looks good how do you like the shakle reversal i heard that makes it ride better ant truth to that
(said over 3 years ago by Heath Sanborn).

You bet, the combination of reversed shackle, CV driveshafts, and hi steer is unbeatable. I drive this thing to work 3 or 4 days a week, I can cruise at 70 with no bumpsteer, and tracks very true. (said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

thats a Badd mother f er ther man exactly what i have in min for my ih i just need the axle housing from any thin scout and i am ready to redo the drive train i hope mine turns out that solid looking (said over 3 years ago by jimmy roberts).

It'll be at Easter Jamboree in Moab this weekend if anyone is going (said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

Nice. I just saw you today at the city market. My Scout broke on Kane Creek. Take it easy. -Orange Bomber (said over 3 years ago by Fred Gatti).

that is the coolest lookin rig in the fleet. have fun in moab, maybe see you there, mad maxmobile. (said over 3 years ago by andy z).

I made your beautiful scout my background on my lap top for more motivation to go to class so i can do this to my scout some day, hope you dont mind! (said over 3 years ago by Drew).

Orange Bomber, I think we drove by your Scout there, REAL slow... Liked it. (said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

What size rims do you have? I am looking for rims and having trouble finding a rim with backspacing of 3.5 to 3.75. Everything is 4 or higher. Do you know what backspacing I need (said over 3 years ago by E Arredondo).

I used 16x10 rock crawlers... I think the BS is 4". I added 1.5" spacers on all 4 corners. Get them on ebay, they are a lot cheaper there. (said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

Great ride! Nice pics. (said over 3 years ago by James).

Looks good man. it sits just right. beast (said over 3 years ago by Brennen Bocook).

i have a 79 with 4 inch springs and the 2" shackels. i would like to do the SOA but d and c extreme said it would cost about 5 grand to do it. i also talked to a local shop around here and the guy told me after he did it i wouldnt be able to drive it on t (said over 3 years ago by Brennen Bocook).

drive it on the road?? so im not lettin him do it! if you or anyone could give me estimated cost. and did you do it your self? thanks.. id appreciate it (said over 3 years ago by Brennen Bocook).

Want one... (said over 3 years ago by DeeAnn Klapp).

Dont let that touch your truck!!! If he says it won't be drivable then he doesn't know what he is talking about. There are a lot of things to consider when doing an SOA. I did not do the whole thing, I paid a reputable shop to do the cut and turn, and (said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

Cut and turn, pinion angles, and shackle installation. Mine cost around $4100 before wheels and tires, but that included a reversed shackle kit ($300) High Steer kit ($800) and CV driveshafts ($900 for the pair) Parts were about $3000 all said and done. (said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

The reversed shackles and CV driveshafts are a must. They eliminate vibration and make the truck drive right on the highway.
The Hi-steer is not required, but it will reduce the "wander" on the highway.
(said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

I regularly drive mine at 60-70 mph. I can let the steering wheel go at speed with not issues. Anyone who says it can't be made to drive right doesn't deserve to work on your truck
(said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

Yeah thanks man. your right theres no way i'm taking it there. but yeah when i do it i would go ahead and do the reversed shackels and drift shafts. when i do it i want to do it right. One thing though.. would you recommend using the 4" rough country spr (said over 3 years ago by Brennen Bocook).

rough country springs? i have had them for about a year.. i appreciate all the advice! (said over 3 years ago by Brennen Bocook).

No problem... The springs depend on what you are going for in your truck. Remember that the taller the spring, the less flex it will allow. The SOA by itself is 5.5" lift, add 1" for Reversed shackle, and then springs... You are looking at 10.5" of li (said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

lift, less spring will make it less tipsy and allow you to flex more in the rocks, etc. SOA with 2.5" springs will clear 36's no problem.
(said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

It almost cleared my 37's. I wound up adding 1.25" body to clear at MAX flex, and trimming slighly (said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

yeah i see what you're saying, i have 35's on my scout now and i've trimmed a good bit.. (said over 3 years ago by Brennen Bocook).

but my springs now are stiff as a rock.. maybe they havent had time to break in, ive only put like 2000 miles on them (said over 3 years ago by Brennen Bocook).

my scout is like 5 or 6 below yours in ranking. rig name Bocook iH. take a look when you get the chance.. (said over 3 years ago by Brennen Bocook).

haha yeah anywhere there was rust or holes a friend and i cut it out and welded new in. and body filled to get all the low spots out. (said over 3 years ago by Brennen Bocook).

haha i used rustoleum textured spray bomb. its like clear coat with a white, black, and grey specs. so it took 28 cans to do the whole thing (said over 3 years ago by Brennen Bocook).

$5 a can i couldve just bought 1-1/2 gal. of gun metal or charcoal metallic.. i didnt kno i was going to use that much... atleast touch ups will be easy! (said over 3 years ago by Brennen Bocook).

i see you have the 727. i need another tranni before i do the SOA. i will probably buy the bebuilt one from super scout specialist. for $650. also terra low gears 4:1 what do you think? (said over 3 years ago by Brennen Bocook).

I like it. Terra low on the D20 is like 3.45:1 I think. Those 727s are cake to rebuild, the kit is only like $220. I am convinced that anyone could do it. (said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

I used about 7 or 8 cans, and yup... touchups are ez (said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

seriously? i didnt kno there was a kit. the one from superscout comes with a torqueconverter what would you do. 220 for the kit? or 600 for a rebuilt and converter? (said over 3 years ago by Brennen Bocook).

I spose the rebuild and converter for $600 is a pretty good deal. Prolly go that way, I am just cheap, I like to save a buck when I can. (said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

Very nice! It is one of the best I've ever seen! Good job! (said over 3 years ago by Matt Fluegge).

Thanks (said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

9 June... Yup, it crawls all over the local Jeeps! Buddy went wheeling with me... Wrangler w/ 35s ARB's 4.11s SOA, the works... Made him look bad when he had to bust out the winch and I passed him! (said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

Hey all, just got through piecing together a better brake system. Found out that if you pull the piston out of the small IH Master, you can put it in a Fullsize mid 70s Chevy master
(said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

The benefit? Larger reservours for all you rock crawlers... also interchangable with Corvette disk/disk master cylinder...
(said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

I now run a Chevy truck proportioning valve, with fullsize Chevy master. This thing will stop on a dime, and leave you three cents change! (said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

I have to say you did an awesome job on your Scout, but the rounded style International fenders look better. (said over 2 years ago by Rich Nelson).

You should switch you main pic to the 2nd or 3rd one. (said over 2 years ago by Rich Nelson).

Thanks Rich, I needed something that would allow me to trim the fenders more than the scout flares would allow. 3" cutout bronco flares did the trick. Switched pics also (said over 2 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

The look of your Scout is just awesome. I'll bet it turns heads. Love that millitary look! (said over 2 years ago by brian).

Nice Scout. Hey, how is that rear detroit on the street? I have a spooled ^0 rear right now and it is not the best. Do you get a lot of the banging and backlash problems on the street with the detroit? (said over 2 years ago by Dan Seiler).

dude love the direction you went with it man (said over 2 years ago by josh kirk).

Thanks all, I'm in JBAD Afganistan right now, so I don't check my stuff too often. The detroit is awesome. I no longer have dana 44s though (see above). Now sports a 14b full float rear and dana 60 front diff. Detroit in the rear works GREAT off the r (said over 2 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

sorry, works great off road, unloads usually after you come off the trail a few miles, and occasionally in daily driving (mebbe once a week). not too bad though (said over 2 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

The "Ole Sarge" may not be the youngest trooper on the trail, but she'll put a whole lotta Jeeps to shame! Thanks (said over 2 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

Hi Christopher - do you have the np 203 - if not I have one in Denver that works and I will give it to you, one former service member (Airborne) to another. (said over 2 years ago by Eric Reid).

Got the NP203 and dodge tailshaft/housing. Need a Jeep D300 to put behind it. Thanks though Eric.
(said over 2 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

You need to run at least some 40's on that bad boy, I think MT makes a Baja Claw in that size?...you should check it out. Def. need some good clearance with that 14 Bolt FF pumpkin, and your drivetrain is def. up to the task! (said over 2 years ago by Rich Nelson).

Heck 42's or 44's and that would be un-stopable, maybe a future Top Truck Challenge contestant. That would make us IH guys proud!!! (said over 2 years ago by Rich Nelson).

I have been thinking about bigger tires, but to tell you the truth, the amount of work it took to get the 37s to collapse into the fenderwells without crinkling the fenders was unbelievable! If I did larger tires, I would need more lift! Or Portal boxes (said over 2 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

I hear that a company is making them for 14b/D60 combo now...That would piss the wife off! (said over 2 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

I have also considered shaving the bottom of the 14b and 60 and plating them in 1/4" steel. Hear you can get about 1.5" that way (said over 2 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

Yeah, the portal company is a descendant of the company that made Rockwell axles...nice stuff but very expensive! Shaving the pumpkins is a good idea, but I would at least go with 3/8" steel minimum. (said over 2 years ago by Rich Nelson).

Man, I will tell you that when I went from 37's to 40's on my rock crawling Bronco, the difference was night and day...gaps that used to swallow the 37, the 40" rolled right through...I def. would go with at least 40's you will be un-stopable! (said over 2 years ago by Rich Nelson).

I was running Goodyear MTR's and loved them. I have since sold the old early Bronco and become a Scout guy! (said over 2 years ago by Rich Nelson).

Sounds like you went the right way! All my wheelin budies (mostly Jeep guys) have been telling me to go with 40's too. (said over 2 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

guess I could loose the bronco flares, trim another inch and a half, and frame the wheelwells in 1.25 od. tube. They I'd clear 40's (said over 2 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

Your Scout is sick, one of the best on the entire site. Guys we need to vote this one up!!! (said over 2 years ago by Bobby Abbott).

Bobby you are right!! (said over 2 years ago by Rob Gojkovich).

Thanks, Update... Got everything together for the 203/300 doubler and bulletproof trans. New 727 has reverse man. valve body w/ low band apply, ultimate sprag, billet rear planetary gearset, Red Eagle Clutches, and Klones steels.
(said about 1 year ago by Christopher Klapp).

Hopefully it will be done, along with the doubler, and installed before I get home (June). I also have and ARB for the D60 now.
(said about 1 year ago by Christopher Klapp).

Plan on seeing it at the Scout Rendevious in Fairplay this summer. :) (said about 1 year ago by Christopher Klapp).

One of my favorites! (said about 1 year ago by Ugly).

Took another look at your rig this morning and I've got to say that's a awesome transformation you know your lovin' that machine! (said about 1 year ago by Rob Gojkovich).

Thanks... When I bought it I had every intention of 4" springs and 33's... Thank god for good friends huh? (said about 1 year ago by Christopher Klapp).

nice rig
what kind of power steering do you run i have a scout 2 pump and it has been nothing but trouble on the rocks in my 800b (said about 1 year ago by Nico).

I have a rebuilt stock box, with Blue Torch Fab hi-steer arms, DOM drag and tie rod, stock pump. It is kinda rough when you get it jammed up. Looking at adding hydraulic assist. (said about 1 year ago by Christopher Klapp).

Hey hadn't ever seen you around town, but nice rig, maybe one day we can run....I'm in Kabul myself right now..NKC but moving to NKAIA (said about 1 year ago by Joseph C. Archuleta).

thanks for the help (said about 1 year ago by Nico).

Sure Nico, I have a couple of friends that are really happy with the "Redneck Rams" setup. I'll probably go that route.
(said about 1 year ago by Christopher Klapp).

Joseph, you from the Springs? I'm up in JBAD. Was down in your neck of the woods for a memorial last week. When you get back stateside? (said about 1 year ago by Christopher Klapp).

I'll be back mid July, just in time for the Rendezvous, my first appearance with my truck....and yourself?,,,We'll certainly have to run, currently looking at the option of MPFI for it though, sick of the Carb...."Icymoon" (said about 1 year ago by Joseph C. Archuleta).

Icymoon, I did Junkyard EFI, runs great and only cost me around $400. LOVE it, it'll run upside down, and advances the timing for altitude, so no more fiddling with it at 9000ft! (said about 1 year ago by Christopher Klapp).

Be home in June, already done my registration for RHIMR. Wouldn't miss it for the world! Mine took 2nd in the extreme class 2008. (said about 1 year ago by Christopher Klapp).

ah nice, well I'll stay away from extreme...not there yet, lucking at Crazy...but look forward to meeting you then...stay safe...IcyMoon, gonna have to check into that EFI, sounds much cheaper than the 3000+ for the MPFI...but doesn't hurt to dream
(said about 1 year ago by Joseph C. Archuleta).

Great scout , To take it from a family lookin wheeler to a kick ass military look. where can i find a gas can like that? (said about 1 year ago by Leo Franco).

Thanks, Gas can is/was Property of US Army! Mebbe on Ebay? Look for plastic, they are much more durable. We regularly wheel with all 5 of us in it. (said about 1 year ago by Christopher Klapp).

You home yet, I land on the 17th call me at 342-2345 when you get there or after, I've got a lot of things to prep before the show....."Icymoon" arch (said about 1 year ago by Joseph C. Archuleta).

Joe, congrats on your win at RMIHR. 1st place, Extreme Scout 800! (said about 1 year ago by Christopher Klapp).

Excuse my newbishness but did you shorten the Dana 60 front? (said about 1 year ago by Zach).

GREAT SCOUT!! What year/model cutouts are those? I know you said bronco but was wondering the actual model/year cause thats what I'm lookin for.. Thanks and great work!! (said about 1 year ago by Spence).

I get 4 miles to the gallon. See you're out and about climbing over some of them stones now and again. (said about 1 year ago by Cindy).

Sorry, haven't been on here for quite awhile. Dana 60 is full width, as is the14 bolt. Cutouts are early Bronco, 73-75 I think, 3 inch cut outs. On the milage, I get between 12 and 14 on the highway. Any yes, I like to stretch her paws every so often. H (said 10 months ago by Christopher Klapp).

I'm ready to go make big rocks into little ones now! (said 6 months ago by Christopher Klapp).

Hey Chris!! Just wanted to drop you and family a line to let you know what a great time we had at the rendevouz!!
Looking foreward to hooking up with you again. May God bless you on your deployement bro' stay safe
Mikel Wright "EAGLE SCOUT" 4.1!!!!!!
(said 5 months ago by Mikel Wright).

Thanks Mike, we had a great time as well. Won't be there for this Rendevous, but mebbe I can get the truck there. (said about 1 month ago by Christopher Klapp).
