Babble

Lots, and lot's of fun! look's good off road. (said over 4 years ago by Chad Maile).

nice roll cage those guys at ih only north do some nice work. love that roll cage (said over 3 years ago by Darren Rule).

cops dont bother you with those tires sticking out like that ? (said over 3 years ago by Darren Rule).

So far I've been pretty lucky, got pulled over last weekend, but thatcop was cool and told me to get it home. Looking to come up with some kinda rear mud flaps (said over 3 years ago by Matt).

Nicely done Matt, looks very sweet, my wife and I were sexcited to see it again. Happy wheelin man! (said over 3 years ago by Daniel Boldridge).

beautiful scout man. what is the suspension set up you have under that beast? (said over 3 years ago by Drew).

Thanks, the suspension is SOA, reverse shackle, and 4" skyjacker springs. (said over 3 years ago by Matt).

AWESOME, not much more can be said (said over 3 years ago by Christopher Klapp).

Sweet Ride, Hey I am tring to rally the Bay area Fleet Rigs to head down to Hollister Hills the first weekend in May if you are up for going leave me a message on my Rig's page "Misfit" (said over 3 years ago by Ron Newman).

Matt - I have seen your rig on youtube...lots of fun in snow. Keep on wheelin' (said over 3 years ago by Mike Allegretti).

Sick rig, I love the full widths...I am a huge fan of the venerable 14BoltFF. In my opinion its the best choice for a swap. (said over 2 years ago by Rich Nelson).

I like the orange for sure, but man you should put some SSII mirrors on it, the one you have is just plain hideous. (said over 2 years ago by Rich Nelson).

I like the new paint scheme -- very nice. But Rich was right with his assessment of the sideview mirror... (said over 2 years ago by Mike Allegretti).

Come on guys I love that mirror...lol. Checkout Midlife Crisis' Scout he has 2 on his rig. If I find a better mirror that sticks out that far I will change it, if not that badboy is going to stay on there until it gets torn-off on the trail. Ran the Ru (said over 2 years ago by Matt).

Ran the Rubicon this weekend and it never got touched. (said over 2 years ago by Matt).

I guess you are fond of the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"! Great trail photos. More youtube video, too, pleaase! (said over 2 years ago by Mike Allegretti).

I guess, to each his own, right? Nice to see some updated pics especially in action. Your Scout kicks ass. (said over 2 years ago by Rich Nelson).

I agree on the youtube stuff too, we need more of it! I was going to ask you...is your Dana 300 the IH D300 or did you do that J**p tailshaft/housing conversion with the J**p D300 I have been hearing about? Thanks (said over 2 years ago by Rich Nelson).

Thanks on the Scout. Scout ran gfreat on the trail, only issue was that I hadn't greased a wheel bearing and the damn thing came apart on the way to the trail. Hope to work on more Utube stuff soon. (said over 2 years ago by Matt).

The 300 is am IH300. I've heard the benefit of the Jeep 300 is that Lomax makes gears for it. They are supposed to be superior to the Tera gears. Tera gears worked great last weekend. (said over 2 years ago by Matt).

Who's in the other Binder in the new pics? And I detect another one in the garage... (said over 2 years ago by Mike Allegretti).

Aha! I scrolled down the Highest Rated rigs and figured that the yellow Scout in the garage is the Mosquito Killer! (At least) two Scouts -- you're my hero! (said over 2 years ago by Mike Allegretti).

The brown Scout coming up the slabs is my buddy Randy (he is from the bay area) and the back of the red Scout in the pic belongs to my other buddy Craig. His Scout is posted on here as Mario. (said over 2 years ago by Matt).

Mario is one nice truck, it sits on a 60 and 14bolt and has a 5 speed Stak Mini Monster box bolted to a 727 auto. And yes the yellow Scout in the garage is Mosquito Killer, that's my baby. (said over 2 years ago by Matt).

Mike, what Scout on here is yours? (said over 2 years ago by Matt).

Matt - a am the White Wheeler ('78 Traveler) down in So Cal. Other than the lift, the whole drivetrain is bone stock. With the Long Wheel Base, rock crawling is not in its future! (said over 2 years ago by Mike Allegretti).

Did you make the bar doors yourself? If not where did you get them, they look great on your awesome rig (said over 2 years ago by Eric).

Thanks, the tube doors are from IHOnlyNorth. Here is the link to the doors: http://www.shopih.com/CPT-TUBEDOOR-p-TDS.html
(said over 2 years ago by Matt).

Matt -- Ironlung (about half-way down the Highest-Rated list) beats you in the hideous mirrors competition. What is it with you NoCal boys and your mirrors? (said over 2 years ago by Ron Mexico).

Matt, what happened in the pic of the LF D44HD Axle (where you have the tire off and the tow strap on it)? Did you blow the hub, axle shaft or u-joint? Gotta love the carnage, wheel it hard! (said over 2 years ago by Rich Nelson).

Burned up a wheel bearing on the way to the Rubicon. Maintenance is critical when you run through 3ft deep water. Fixed it at the spillway and had no more issues the rest of the weekend. (said over 2 years ago by Matt).

Oh hell no! You don't drop from the top spot after you post pics of making bearing repairs on the Rubicon -- that's BS (said over 2 years ago by Ron Mexico).

I guess someone didn't like the Scout. Must of took a few ones to take a tumble. At least they could have left some feedback...of well got to get ready for the next wheeling trip :) (said over 2 years ago by Matt).

Do you have any more specs, info about your build? Its one hell of a Scout! (said over 2 years ago by Rich Nelson).

Thanks Matt for the link for the bar doors. A bit out of my $ range...someday. (said over 2 years ago by Eric).

Great rig, I saw your scout at the Fall Rallye and see you posted pics from the event. (said over 2 years ago by Rob Gojkovich).

Damn Matt! You have done wonders to that ol' Scout of mine! Nice to see someone who loveS' um like I do. I love the color scheme! All I can say is DAMN!!!! (said over 2 years ago by Daniel Boldridge).

Thanks Dan, it's gone through a bit of a transformation, but I've tried to keep the same look as when you had it, since that's what attracted me to it when you were selling it. The only reason it got painted was because the rough finish was too hard to cl (said over 2 years ago by Matt).

ean. When it gets dirty now I just shoot more orange spray paint on it. Hope to see you in NorCal some time soon. (said over 2 years ago by Matt).

Matt, I tried to open your email ( matt@scoutrecycler.com ) but nothing came up, is that still good? (said over 2 years ago by Rob Gojkovich).

Still running 1-2 in the Highest Rated sort - excellent! (said over 2 years ago by Mike Allegretti).

Thanks Mike, there are some really nice Scouts on here, it's an honor to have both rigs at the top.

Dan, email is matt@scoutrecycler.com. Try giving it another try. If is still doesn't work let me know and I will give you another email to try. Lookin (said over 2 years ago by Matt).

forward to those pics of the rig. (said over 2 years ago by Matt).

If i could build a perfect scout this would be it. wouldn't change a thing perfect! (said about 1 year ago by Garry).

This is one BADASS Scout.I hope one day my 73 will look like that. And I like how you did your saftey bar doors.GREAT JOB (said about 1 year ago by Robert ).

that things in great shape. i need my 73 looking like that also (said about 1 year ago by Devin Davis).

luv it hope my 800 turns out that well (said about 1 year ago by robert colton).

sweet!does IH dana 300 come 4:1 stock. Is IH 727 pretty tough. I have always wanted a scout 800 and I finally got one and would love to keep it as much IH as possible. Unbelieveably how cpable it is with 4 banger and factory lockers but.... (said about 1 year ago by mark).

The IH 300 I believe is 2:7. I have 4:1 Tera Flex gears. I hear ya on the 4 banger. Used to have a 68 800 with a 196, t-18, dana 20, and 4:56 gears. Thing wasn't fast but would go anywhere I pointed it. (said about 1 year ago by Matt).

Going to the Rubicon in 2 weeks, hopefully will get some good pics. (said about 1 year ago by Matt).

Great Rubi pics!! Love to see those scouts tearin' it up. (said about 1 year ago by Rob Gojkovich).

Not all that crazy about ScoutII but your rig is just flat out awesome, what a machine......"icymoon" (said about 1 year ago by Joseph C. Archuleta).

Thanks guys, Rubicon was a blast. This last trip exposed some of the weak points in the rig. Determined that my drop pitman arm drops too low and is hitting the spring. Damaged the steering box twice because of it. It's also time for alloy shafts. (said about 1 year ago by Matt).

Matt, trying to some scouts to the 4x4 toys for tots run on Dec 4th from 8:30 to 1:00 at Lake Natoma if your interested. (said about 1 year ago by Rob Gojkovich).

sounds healthy !!!! what isky cam are you running? (said about 1 year ago by brian webb).

Thanks Brian, where did you hear it? Isky 262 Supercam (said about 1 year ago by Matt).

on a youtube video where you were driving in about a foot of snow (said about 1 year ago by brian webb).

any cylinder head mods? i am building 66 392 with late 345 heads!!! any suggestions would greatly help (said about 1 year ago by brian webb).

things sweet gotta say among the best ones on here (said about 1 year ago by Andrew).
