Description & Modifiations

I am the original owner of this great Scout II. This vehicle was used in the Crosby Pro/Am at Pebble Beach in 1978. Wish I knew who the VIP was that drove it. The IH dealer in San Jose sold quite a few after the tournament, each with a few hundred miles on them. They were loaded with every factory option IH made.

I had some modifications done by Jim at Anything Scout (Mt. View, CA) some time ago. New cam (slightly hotter), decked the head by about .050", new valves/springs, 4 barrel manifold and ThermoQuad etc.

Truck has been the first car for my 4 kids (saved 4 lives in a horrific hit-run incident at speed, multiple roll-over). Restored sans top which was destroyed. Other injuries prevented by the mass of the Scout in an incident where it was hit from behind at 30MPH by an SUV while stopped to make a left turn. My son and 2 other schoolmates emerged without a bruise. Total damage to the Scout, $150 for a new chrome bumper. The Volvo it was stopped behind was about $6K, and 2 people thru the windshield. We love this truck.

Engine

345 V8 modified as described, 727 trans.

Future Modifications

Keep it rolling, it will always be in the family.
