Weekend Wheeler

Drive it to the trail, looks and performs well

Description & Modifiations

Pretty much stock really:
304 V8 w/ Holley 2bbl
Prestolite no-point distributor
T-18 (or 19, not sure) 4-sp
D-20 transfer case w/o 4L (only 4H)
3:54 D-44's front and back
BFG 31'' A/T's on Crager Soft 8's (new since pic)
...that's about it I guess.

I gutted the interior and gave it a major facelift with new carpet, Mitsubishi seats, Tuffy center console, roll bar, new steering wheel, new radio, and painted everything. I painted the exterior yellow and I installed Bushwacker fender flares (adds a great look). I haven't really upgraded anything, just replaced a whole bunch of parts like the fuel pump, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, cables, etc, rear axle, front brakes and wheel bearings, master cylinder, shocks, exhaust, light lenses, the list goes on and on.....

It's reliable, strong, and looks great!

Engine

304ci, 5L V8 with Holley 2bbl. This engine has more grease on it than a Grand Slam breakfast from Denny's.

Future Modifications

4-pt seatbelts up front
New HD clutch
Stan's Headers and new pipes
New rear seat or seat cover
New poly body, engine, and trans mounts
New poly spring bushings
Rebuild steering gear
Replace rag joints in steering
Replace ball joints and tierod ends
New D-20 w/ 4L
New stereo system
Optima battery
Remove ignition and replace w/ switches

Eventually, I'd like to strip it down to the frame and rebuild it as an SSII conversion w/ a soft top, body panel dent work, and no rust. The rust isn't bad, but I know it's there and it bugs me.

I love what you did to it, not all scouts need to HUNT, some can be classy, you proved it, SWEET (said 10 months ago by carl roach).

Love the COLOR, inspires me to put the fender trim on mine (said 10 months ago by carl roach).

Gavin - I have one axle's worth of spring bushings still in the box if you need them. I just did mine a few months ago. I live in San Francisco as well. David Link (Money Jungle) (said 10 months ago by David Link).
