Drive it to the trail, looks and performs well
I've had this Scout since Sept. '01 and farted around with it ever since. I've completely rebuilt my tranny, front end, brake system, carburator, and suspension. I'm getting it back from the shop with a new control module, distributor, coil, and battery. The roll bar is from a 80's FS Bronco. I just narrowed it by 6-8 inches and the height was already perfect. I want to do a spring over but i also want to keep my 4" springs, they cost me too much to just ditch them? I wanted to upgrade to an MSD ignition but I didnt have time to research it. I work way too much. I want my rig to be reliable so I dont want to overmodify it with a hi-po engine and crazy electrical system, besides, its not smog exempt yet. I replaced my rag-joint in my steering column with a u-joint, This helps w/ steering play. I Cut my rear wheel wells b'cuz of cancer on the fender lips. I had a good buddy of mine fab me some tube doors and a front winch bumper. I love it! I might have to sell my doors and roof because I dont think i'll ever put them back on again.

SOA lift? i really am considering whether or not I want to go that route. I know that I will lose some functionality, but as a kid, i've always wanted to have a real life Tonka toy. I do not recommend truetracs for the rear of a dedicated weekend wheeler. I bought it because I was told it could get me to just about as many places as a locker would and the driveability would better on the street. It works good on the street but I have gotten stuck off road because of them. Shoulda got a detroit locker.
i've seen this scout by my house at the old gas station on van ness. great job with it i have a 78 scout and really want to put the tube doors on it along with a sprig over and 35's like yours. great job with it. (said over 3 years ago by justin).
Thanks. Check out algotsbuilt.com. My buddy mike does all kinds of tube work and cages. I took it to Jim at Van ness shop and its been undergoing warranty work. Still not really fixed yet. (said over 3 years ago by David R.).
Your Scout is bad ass! Need more pictures. (said over 2 years ago by Bobby Abbott).
Hey David, Nice rig!!! The doors are a great touch... I live in Chowchilla and have a 1964 Scout 80 and ive been looking into getting tube doors. Will "Jim" do custom work on my rig and about how much do they run? Thanks... (said 10 months ago by Daryl Allen).
