Its a time portal, taking us back to a better time and a better place
This scout was purchased as a father/son project when we lived in Washington State. The scout was back on the trail in 2001 and we made a lot of memories in the Cascade Mountains of Washington. Our family moved to Alaska in 2003 and we needed money for the move, so the old scout was sold. This year, 2009 in July, we lost our son in a swimming accident up here in Alaska. I was so wishing that I still had the scout that created so many memories with my son. My Mom and her husband live a short distance from the old scout, and this week they surprised me by going and buying back the scout. It should be up here in Alaska this spring and I will be performing a full restoration on it in honor of my son. This time the old scout will never leave the family!
196 4 cylinder. I would like more power, but I want to keep it original.
I plan on rebuilding the original 196 4 cylinder motor. All the weather stripping will be replaced. New floor pans left and right side. The full top needs some body work and then painted. Will be installing a 2.5 inch lift. Minor body work, repaint in same camo pattern and clear coat. last but not least: a nice sound system with MP3 player. We have hundreds of miles of dirt roads here in Alaska, more dirt than asphalt, so we will have plenty of exploring to do.
